So I was just mindlessly scrolling through my feeds when I saw the wildest thing - Airbus recalled thousands of aircraft over the weekend, fr fr. I’m talking thousands, not hundreds, thousands.

Airbus recalled thousands of aircraft over the weekend because of a potential issue with solar flares corrupting their planes’ systems. Yeah, you read that right, solar flares. It’s giving ‘space weather’ and I am here.

for. it. Apparently, these solar flares could’ve messed with the planes’ electrical systems, which, you know, is kinda a big deal when you’re flying at 30,000 feet.

I mean, can you imagine being on a plane and suddenly the pilot’s like, ‘Uh, guys, the sun is being a little too extra today, so we’re just gonna, uh, take a detour… to the moon?

’ (yes, really, that’s not what they’d say, but just go with it).

Why This Matters (Or Doesn’t) 👀

This is lowkey a whole thing and I’m not okay. I mean, who knew solar flares could be a problem for planes? Not me, that’s for sure.

The people who actually know things are saying this is a precautionary measure, but still, it’s wild to think about how much of an impact space weather can have on our daily lives.

And let’s be real, if solar flares can take down planes, what’s next? Are we gonna have to worry about our phones and laptops too? Is the sun just gonna start trolling us at this point?

Anyway, it’s all good, I guess. Airbus is on it, and they’re fixing the issue. But still, this is a wild reminder of how small we are in the grand scheme of things.

Like, we’re just over here living our best lives, and then the sun’s all, ‘Hey, btw, I can take down your planes if I want to. ’ It’s giving main character energy, and I am not about that life.
