So, it looks like Ellen DeGeneres and her wife are packing their bags and heading back to the US, and I’m over here thinking ‘what’s good, Ellen?

They really said ‘peace out’ to Trump’s America and relocated, but now they’re coming back, and I’m dying to know why. Was it the avocado toast, the Netflix shows, or the fact that TikTok was just too extra to handle from abroad?

Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi fled the country during Trump’s presidency, and honestly, same, Ellen, same. But now that they’re returning, I’m wondering if they’re ready for the current state of the US, because, let’s be real, it’s still a whole mess.

Why This Matters (Or Doesn’t) 👀

This is lowkey a whole thing, and I’m not okay. Not because I’m a huge Ellen fan (although, I do love her), but because it’s giving me ‘main character energy’ vibes. Like, they dipped out when things got too wild, and now they’re back, and I’m over here thinking, ‘what’s the tea, Ellen?

The people who actually know things are saying that Ellen’s return might be a sign that the US is becoming a more welcoming place for the LGBTQ+ community, and that’s a beautiful thing. But, let’s not get it twisted, there’s still a lot of work to be done, and I’m not sure if Ellen’s return is going to be the catalyst for change that we need.
