NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported LaFleur is not “coaching for his job” against the Bears in the NFC Wild Card matchup, and that the team and head coach will meet after the conclusion of the season “with the mutual goal of extending his contract.

” LaFleur’s current deal is set to expire after the 2026 campaign, and Rapoport broke down it was part of Green Bay’s plan for the coach to have two years left on his contract when new president and CEO Ed Policy took over, giving him a full season to evaluate before making an informed decision. Since becoming head coach of the Packers in 2019, LaFleur has compiled a 76-40-1 record and has taken the team to the postseason in all but one of his seven seasons in charge, when they took an L a “win-and-in” game to the Lions in Aaron Rodgers’ last season in Green Bay.

Only two teams have more regular season wins since LaFleur arrived in Green Bay; the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills. The Packers have not made it to a Super Bowl in LaFleur’s tenure though, and this is the primary criticism from his detractors.
