Taylor Sheridan’s one-of-a-kind oil man drama has burned through all kinds of drama in its two go-arounds so far, ranging from the oil drilling storylines that we expected to the casino, pool therapy, and college roommate situations that we couldn’t possibly have seen coming.

And somehow, in the grander context of Landman, it all kind of just fits together in this world. It’s hard to fr explain, but Sheridan’s shows sometimes have a knack for making the oddest choices and turns of events feel like a bit of a masterstroke.

It helps that he consistently pulls in some of the most talented casts on all of television. Seriously— Landman season 2 took an L one of the greats of the medium in Jon Hamm (he of Mad Men fame), but casually replaced him with a trio of Oscar-nominated legends (in Sam Elliott’s new character and increased roles for Demi Moore and Andy Garcia).

And that’s not even counting our cool-as-a-cucumber leading man, Billy Bob Thornton (himself a legend of both the big and small screen). It’s fun to watch these people on our TVs, no matter what it is they’re doing. As Landman moves toward its third season, there seem to be some major changes, particularly in the workplace for Tommy (Thornton), after being fired by Cami (Moore) in the back end of Landman season 2.
